French long-stay visa applicants again complain about delays in appointments

Connexion readers have once again warned of long waiting times at French visa centers in the UK.

When a French national begins an application for a French long-stay visa, they must complete an application form on the France-Visas website, before creating an account with the TLS Contact processing agent in order to make an appointment for the filing of supporting documents and biometric data.

A reader who had wanted to apply for a visa at the TLS contact center in London – and who did not wish to be named in this article – told us on Friday (April 29) that he was booked until July 25, which they described as “beyond reasonable”.

Another reader, Bruce Lippiatt, also found that there were no appointments available “for weeks” when he tried to get a six-month visa so he could spend more time in his secondary residence in France.

Mr Lippiatt, who is retired and lives on the Wirral, applied to Manchester branch TLS Contact, and thought he had been able to book a slot.

He said he clicked on a time and it was circled in green, so he believed the reservation was full.

However, “when we arrived at the center and were called, they informed us that we had not booked.

“Eventually a member of staff, who was helpful, showed me that the times I had chosen were booked and the next available date was in five weeks.

“The staff member said we weren’t the only ones who had a problem and the staff had complained to IT that the website was poor.

“I asked about the contact [form on the] website and they never came back. If you manage to reach the phone, all you get is a recorded message telling you that they will get back to you in a few hours. In fact, they never come back to you.

“It’s all a joke. We gave up for this year,” he said.

Another reader who had hoped to apply to the Manchester TLS branch said earlier in April that it was ‘impossible’ to get an appointment and she had not received a response when she called and emailed the center.

The connection contacted TLS Contact for more details on the availability of appointments in its various centers, and for more information on the reasons for the delays.
